I have attached my answers in you questions given below.
Q 1) Why was this battle important for the British?
A 1) The British had seen the conquest of Bengal as a great way to send money back to England through the East India Company. They also did not want the French to take possession of Bengal. And thus fought with Siraj-ud-Daulah, who had recognised the military might of the British, through deceit, treason and forgery so they could gather the wealth.
Q 2) How did the outcome change Indian History?
A 2) Bengal was very rich and after the conquest the British wanted to keep their own person or a person whom they could have as a puppet so they could rule as they wanted. And thereafter, with more power they enforced greater rule on India.
Q 3) What is the economic and political significance of the Battle of Plassey?
A 3) Economic looting and plunder ; militarily fortifying the ports of India and ultimately this demoralised the people as they could not revolt.
Q 4) Did you meet any of the descendants of the Nawab whilst making your movie?
A 4) No, we did try to meet them but could not get in touch. The making of the movie was commissioned by the Ministry of External Affairs, India on the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Plassey.
