Political ExpansionThe British East India Company, which started as a trading company became a kingmaker. Politically, this victory opened the doors for the British East India Company to change from a trading company to a governing body raising taxes. They were able to gain control over a greater area of India. Bengal opened the floodgates for the conquest and subjugation of the north of India.
