Political ReasonsSiraj-Ud-Daulah was unhappy with the support and protection that the British gave to his antagonists like Ghasti Begum, Shaukat Jung and Krishan Das. On the other hand, the nobles of Siraj's court were discontented with his accession and were hatching a conspiracy against him. The conspiring nobles included Mir Jaffar (the Paymaster of the Army), Rai Durlab, Yar Latif Khan, Omichund, Jagat Seth (a Marwari merchant), a Sikh merchant and a few more Army officers. Clive took advantage of this situation and joined the conspirators.
